POEM: Is this real family life?
Dad belches and salutes the family crest
-a four pack and a camouflage vest
“Here’s to me and f**k the rest !”
His kid sucks on a sherbet dip
And gurns as e numbers take their grip
With the chemical rush of a saline drip
Then when hunger pangs start to nip
Mum abracadabras a tray of oven chips
Which they stuff between chapped lips
Seated and sated they pause a while
Before their lord and saviour Jeremy Kyle
And mock the fractured, shamed and vile. Amen,
Nick Verity
