Words being manipulated by those in power
The Inspector stated “the presumption of sustainable development prevails over all matters except for highways”, echoing government policy.
My understanding of “sustainable development” is something you can keep doing for ever, in the same way that alternative energy sources such as wind, solar, etc. are sustainable and fossil fuels are not.

Hide AdHence, building on green field sites is clearly not sustainable as there is only a finite amount of land available to build on.
A small point of semantics yet, at the same time, massively important as the impression is being given that developments such as Waddow View are environmentally-sound when, in fact, they are not.
As George Orwell warned, we should all be very wary of the manipulation of words by those in power for their own advantage.
