Clarets co-chairman John Banaszkiewicz to step down
Garlick, the club’s largest shareholder, takes over following three years as co-chairman alongside Banaszkiewicz, who will continue on the board as a director.
Banaskiewicz cites business and family reasons for stepping down, and he said: “I’m sad to make this decision, after the last three years, which have seen us work really hard, appoint a new manager in Sean Dyche, enjoy a season in the Premier League, and improve Gawthorpe and the Academy.

“I’ve put a lot of effort in, and it’s time to move on now as a normal director. I’m not going anywhere!
“We have a united group under Sean, and I’m sure we can push on.”
In a statement, Garlick said: “John and I now own over 75% of the club combined and going forward will continue to work together to move the club forward in a positive and progressive way.

“We will both continue to strive to better our club for the benefit of our fans and our community, along with all connected to our very unique football club.
In an open letter to supporters, Banaszkiewicz added: “Having worked with Mike closely over several years, I know he will do a fantastic job.
“I am confident that the transition will be a smooth one and from the position of being a director, I will still be able to make a major and positive contribution.
“I’ve already received several messages of support from fellow board members who are very pleased I’m remaining on the board.”
